I'm the first one to admit it: energy balls sounded like one of those health food crazes to me. That is, until I had one. And then another. And then another. Let's just say my mind was officially blown! They're delicious, portable, and pack in a punch of energy when you need it most. Whether one is a busy professional wanting healthy snacks for on-the-go, an adventurous hiker wanting a boost of energy on those long hikes, or wanting something healthy to eat while out and about, these 5 energy ball recipes are sure to rock their world-so good!

Recipe 1: The Classic Date & Nut Energy Ball

The great thing about this recipe is that it's a classic for many reasons. It's simple, satisfying, and can be super versatile; you could use any kind of nut or seed you like, and even add in some dried fruit for extra sweetness.

Ingredients: 1 c. pitted dates, soaked in hot water 15 min.; ½ c. almonds, chopped; ¼ c. walnuts, chopped; ¼ c. pumpkin seeds

  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Drain dates, adding them to a food processor along with nuts, seeds, coconut, vanilla extract, and salt.
  2. Process until a sticky, smooth paste forms.
  3. Roll into 1-inch balls and store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to set.

Tip: For some added crunch, toss finished balls in some chopped nuts or seeds prior to storing.

Recipe 2: The Chocolate Peanut Butter Power Ball

You all love chocolate and peanut butter, and so does this recipe. Rich, packed with protein, and healthy fats, this could very well be the healthy Reese's peanut butter cup-but way better!

Ingredients:

1 cup rolled oats 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/4 cup honey 1/4 cup chocolate chips 1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine oats, peanut butter, cocoa powder, honey, and chia seeds.
  2. Mix well and fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Roll into 1-inch balls and store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to set.

Tip: Want to get extra fancy? Use dark chocolate chips for an added depth of flavor in chocolate.

Recipe 3: Tropical Mango & Coconut Bliss Ball

This recipe is great when one wants to taste a little bit of the tropics. It is light, fresh, and full of vitamins from the mango. Besides that, it is naturally sweet and delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup cashews
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon lime zest

Instructions:

  1. Place all the ingredients in the food processor and blend until smooth.
  2. Roll into 1-inch balls and refrigerate at least 30 minutes to set.

Tip: Add an extra little tropical flavor by sprinkling some dried pineapple or shredded coconut over the finished balls, if desired.

Recipe 4: The Berrylicious Berry & Chia Seed Energy Ball

If you want a truly great way to get a huge dose of antioxidants, this is the perfect recipe that is filled with fresh berries and goodness from chia seeds.

Place all ingredients in food processor and process until a smooth paste forms. Roll into 1-inch balls and store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to set. Tip: You can use any type of berries you like, or even mix in some chopped dried cranberries or blueberries for extra flavor.

Recipe 5: The Ginger & Lemon Zing Energy Ball

You will love this recipe if you enjoy a little kick. The taste is refreshing and energetic, and it is full of anti-inflammatory properties because of the ginger inside.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup ground ginger
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until a smooth paste forms.
