Making cake pops is way more fun than it sounds! It’s a great way to use up leftover cake, plus they look super impressive. I made these for my nephew's birthday party last year and they were a HUGE hit! The kids went absolutely bonkers for them; it was adorable. Seriously, adorable!

📖 Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Get that oven ready to bake!
  2. Bake your favorite cake according to the box instructions. Let it cool completely. This is key, trust me.
  3. Once the cake is cool, crumble it into a large mixing bowl. You want fine crumbs. Think fine sand, not pebbles.
  4. In a separate bowl, prepare your frosting. If using store-bought, this is super easy. If making it from scratch, get creative! Mmm, frosting.
  5. Add the frosting to the crumbled cake and mix well until it forms a dough-like consistency. This will take some elbow grease, but it's worth it!
  6. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. I find it easiest to use a cookie scoop for this part. Much easier than eyeballing it.
  7. Insert lollipop sticks into the cake balls about halfway. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Melt your candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, following the package instructions. Don't burn them! We've all been there. ;(
  9. Dip each cake pop into the melted candy, making sure it's fully coated. If it's not fully covered, you'll be sad. You need that perfect candy shell.
  10. Place the dipped cake pops back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  11. Decorate your cake pops with your choice of sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or other fun toppings. Go crazy – it's your masterpiece.
  12. Let the cake pops set completely before enjoying them. Patience young padawan, patience...

📝 Notes

  • Make sure your cake is completely cool before crumbling it.
  • If the mixture is too dry, add a little more frosting.
  • If the mixture is too wet, add a little more crumbled cake.
  • You can melt candy melts in a double boiler or in the microwave. Watch carefully when microwaving!
