My Favorite Vegan Green Smoothie Recipe (It's Actually Delicious!) - Updated December 24, 2024

Let me tell you a story. I used to think 'healthy' meant 'tasteless'. Seriously. Green smoothies were, in my mind, synonymous with that weird grass-flavored concoction my well-meaning aunt used to make. You know the one-the kind that left a strange film on your tongue and a lingering sense of disappointment. But then, something changed. I realized green smoothies could actually be delicious-nay, addictive! And this recipe? Well, this is my holy grail; this is what I make almost every day. I'm so excited to share it with you. Take out your blender and here we go! Ready to ditch the blah and bring on the vibrant?

Instructions: Let's Blend!

This smoothie is easier to make than a cup of tea-almost! Just throw all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until super smooth. If it's too thick-add a splash more almond milk. If it's too thin-add a few more ice cubes. Done!

Seriously, that's it! But here are a few of my personal blendin' tips:

  • Make sure frozen fruit will not clump together, causing blockages around the bottom.
  • Blend at low speed initially then gradually go at a faster pace so mess is minimal to deal with. Taste-test as you go, adding more of this and that until you get the flavor you fancy. More sweet-it is okay, maple syrup, or honey does the job, in moderation! Add more ginger for a big kick or less spirulina if it gets too much. Sometimes I will throw in a scoop of vegan protein powder after some killer workout; works a treat!

One time, I forgot to add the banana altogether, and it was… well, let's just say I wouldn't do that again. The banana is key for that perfect balance of flavors and texture, creating this dreamiest consistency that's just dreamy!

The Verdict: Why This Smoothie is a Keeper

This smoothie is so much more than green; it is packed with flavor. The mango adds sweetness and tropical notes, while the banana brings in creamy sweetness and avocado gives richness to the mix. The spinach will blend well with the rest, and at the end, you are left with a refreshing healthy drink that really tastes great. Seriously, I am not saying it; I have converted so many smoothie skeptics with this recipe!

It's ideal for breakfast, post-workout refuel, and even as a healthy afternoon snack. It is also something fairly versatile. Experiment with fruits and veggies to get your signature blend. Be creative!
