If you're new to seafood, you might want to go with a burrito that has more familiar ingredients, like shrimp or crab. Making a Seafood Burrito at Home
Okay, so you're totally up for making your own seafood burrito. Who wouldn't want to create their own delicious and unique combo? The best part is that it's not as hard as you might think. Here's a quick breakdown for a really good seafood burrito:
1 lb. of your favorite seafood, such as shrimp, crab or fish. I really enjoy salmon, but you can use whatever type of fish you prefer. 1 package of tortillas. I go with whole wheat-you get a little extra fiber that way! 1 cup of rice, beans, or both. More often than not, I do large batches on Sunday so I have the through-out the week. Your favorite toppings. I would recommend giving shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado, onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime a try.
First, cook your seafood. Pretty easy to do in a pan with a little bit of oil and seasoning. If you're using fish, I'd recommend grilling it or baking it. Throw your cooked seafood in with some other fillings, and you've got a real treat. Once your seafood is cooked, it's time to build your burritos. With a tortilla start, heating a pan for a few seconds on each side will nicely soften it up. Next, add a layer of rice, beans, and your cooked seafood. Top with your favorite toppings then fold up your burrito. You can eat it right away or wrap it up for later. You can make these burritos ahead of time and pack them for a quick lunch or dinner. I promise you will thank me later.
