This recipe is my go-to for any celebration, big or small! It's incredibly versatile, making it perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or even just a Tuesday night treat. What's a celebration without cake? Right? Exactly.

I've tweaked this recipe over the years, making it my own. One time, my nephew spilled chocolate milk all over a birthday cake I'd spent hours on…I was not happy. But the kids still loved it!

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup (2 sticks) of softened butter and 2 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. If you're using an electric mixer, this step will be a breeze. Otherwise, grab that spatula and get ready for a little arm workout!
  3. Beat in 4 large eggs one at a time, then stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mmm, vanilla!
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. This ensures even distribution of the leavening agents.
