Let’s be honest, sometimes we just crave something simple, elegant, and utterly delicious. And this smoked salmon and avocado toast fits that bill perfectly! It’s a quick, easy, and supremely satisfying breakfast, brunch, or even a light lunch that's bursting with flavor. Plus, its impressive looks elevate this dish from ordinary toast to something special. My own inspiration for this recipe came from a lazy Sunday morning. I was craving something tasty but didn't want to spend an eternity in the kitchen, and it came out so good that I had to share it with you!

This recipe is all about quality ingredients. The better the salmon and avocado, the better your toast will taste. I generally opt for wild-caught smoked salmon – the flavor is simply divine! For avocados, choose ones that are ripe but firm. And don't underestimate the power of good bread! I usually use whole-wheat sourdough, but a nice rye or even an everything bagel would add great texture and some flavor.

📖 Instructions

  1. First, toast your bread to your liking. I prefer mine a little darker, but hey, it's your tastebuds, right?
  2. While the bread is toasting, prepare your avocado. Cut it in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. If you want it smoother, give it a good mash with a fork. If you're more of a chunky texture person, just roughly chop it. There’s no wrong way here.
  3. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to your mashed avocado. This will help prevent it from browning too quickly and add a little zing to the flavor. Also, a pinch of salt and pepper can enhance the overall taste!
  4. Next, spread the avocado evenly onto your toast. Don't be shy; a generous layer is key!
  5. Now for the star of the show – the smoked salmon. Gently arrange the smoked salmon slices on top of the avocado. You can overlap the slices a bit for a fuller coverage.
  6. Finally, I like to add a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning on top. But black pepper or even some flaky sea salt works just as well! It's all about what your taste buds are craving.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy! I'm serious, it’s best enjoyed fresh and it’s so easy to prepare.
  8. Mmm… I could go for another piece... I hope you're not too jealous!

📝 Notes

  • Adjust seasoning to your taste!
  • Use the freshest possible ingredients for best results.
  • Make sure your avocado isn't overripe for best texture!
