📖 Instructions

  1. First, let's prep the beef. Cut about 1.5 pounds of sirloin steak into thin strips—about 1/4 inch thick. Don't make them too thick or they won't cook evenly! If you're feeling fancy, you can even get your butcher to do this for you. Second, grab a large bowl and toss the beef strips with 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour. It’s like giving them a little floury hug!
  2. Next, melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once it’s melted and shimmering (not brown!), add the beef strips. Sear them for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they're nicely browned. Don't overcrowd the pan; you might need to do this in batches. If you overcrowd the pan, the beef will steam instead of sear.
  3. Now for the delicious sauce. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup of sour cream, 1/2 cup of beef broth, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon of paprika, salt and pepper to taste. This is where your tastebuds really come into play. Adjust the seasoning until it screams 'delicious!' to you. Stir the sauce well to make sure everything's nicely incorporated.
  4. Once the beef is browned, pour the stroganoff sauce over the beef in the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium-low, then simmer for around 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and the beef is cooked through. Don’t let it boil; just a gentle simmer. Stir it occasionally to prevent sticking, and make sure to taste it again! Adjust seasoning as needed, you can add more mustard, paprika, salt and pepper to your liking.
  5. While the stroganoff simmers, let's cook the rice. You can use your preferred method for this part: rice cooker, pot, whatever works best. I usually prefer the rice cooker, but hey, I'm a super busy chef sometimes, so do what works for you. Cook it according to package directions. That's it! Simple as that.
  6. Time to assemble your masterpiece! Spoon the cooked rice into bowls. Top generously with the beef stroganoff. If you're feeling extra fancy, garnish with fresh parsley or dill. Trust me, that extra sprinkle of dill goes a long way. I sometimes even add a little squeeze of lemon for that extra zest, but that's optional. Now serve and enjoy your delicious and hearty Beef Stroganoff Rice Bowls! I bet they will taste even better on a chilly rainy day!

📝 Notes
