This Energy Boosting Smoothie is my go-to breakfast or pre-workout pick-me-up. I developed this recipe after a truly epic fail of a morning jog--I was sluggish and needed something to power through. This smoothie is packed with nutrients and antioxidants to give you a sustained energy boost, without that horrible mid-afternoon crash. It’s quick, easy, and incredibly customizable to your taste preferences! One of my friend's told me how she used this smoothie to power through her crazy busy day.

📖 Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients. Wash and prepare all your fruits and veggies, chopping anything needed. This step is super important-- you don't want any sneaky little stems lurking about in your smoothie.
  2. Add the spinach, banana, and berries to your blender. Don't overfill your blender; leave some space at the top.
  3. Pour in your choice of liquid (almond milk, water, or juice). Start with less liquid and add more if needed to reach your desired consistency. Oh, and a little tip--cold liquid makes a colder smoothie!
  4. Add the ice, a tablespoon at a time. Don't throw it all in at once or you'll have a smoothie-explosion! Unless that's your kinda thing.
  5. Secure the blender lid and blend on high speed until smooth. This might take a minute or two, depending on your blender's power. If it's a super chunky situation, stop and scrape down the sides of the blender before blending again.
  6. Once it's all smooth and blended, pour into a glass. Take a moment to admire your beautiful, healthy creation. You made a smoothie!
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy! If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge. But honestly, it's best fresh!

📝 Notes

  • Feel free to experiment with different types of berries and liquid. For a thicker smoothie, add more frozen fruit or ice. For a thinner smoothie, add more liquid. The world is your oyster (or, you know, smoothie).
  • If your blender isn't powerful enough to crush ice well, consider adding a small amount of water to assist the blending process. Nobody wants a chunky surprise!
