I developed this recipe after a particularly stressful week at work. I craved something healthy, delicious, and quick to prepare. I'm always experimenting in the kitchen and I wanted to explore a way to make salmon patties without the typical mess of pan-frying. The sheet pan method was a total game-changer! It’s so simple, and the result is worth more than a thousand words.

📖 Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and makes cleanup a breeze!
  2. In a large bowl, gently flake 1.5 pounds of cooked salmon. Make sure to remove any bones. I usually buy pre-cooked salmon filets to make this super easy.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh dill, 1 egg, lightly beaten; 1 tablespoon of lemon juice; 1/4 teaspoon of salt; and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Don't be afraid to adjust seasonings to your taste. I like to add a pinch of garlic powder too.
  4. Mix everything together gently with a fork. You don't want to overmix and end up with tough patties. Just until everything is combined.
  5. Form the mixture into 4-6 patties. Make them about 3/4 inch thick for even cooking. A little tip: wet your hands to prevent the mixture from sticking!
  6. Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet. Leave a little space between each one for even browning. Don't overcrowd the pan or you'll steam them instead of browning them.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the patties are golden brown and cooked through. They should be firm to the touch.
  8. Serve these delicious patties immediately with a side of your choice! Roasted vegetables or a fresh salad would be yummy additions. Enjoy!

📝 Notes

  • Adjust seasoning to your liking!
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder.
  • If your mixture is too wet, add more bread crumbs. If it is too dry, add a tablespoon of milk or cream
