📖 Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan. This prevents sticking and ensures easy removal later. Trust me on this one, I've learned the hard way!
  2. In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter and chocolate together. You can do this in the microwave (in 30-second bursts) or in a double boiler on the stove. Stir until completely smooth and combined. Let the mixture cool slightly. This step is important for the texture of your brownies--don't skip it!
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Make sure the sugar is fully dissolved and that the mixture is well incorporated. Don't be afraid to really get in there and mix!
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don't overmix; a few lumps are okay. Overmixing will result in tough, chewy brownies. We don't want that!
  5. Carefully pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. A spatula works great here, making sure there are no spots thicker than others.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs. Baking time can vary depending on your oven; start checking around the 25-minute mark.
  7. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares. Resist the urge to cut them while they're warm; it'll make them crumble. Patience, my friend!
  8. Once cool, cut the brownies into squares and enjoy! You deserve it; you baked amazing brownies!

📝 Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Don't overmix the batter!
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them into squares.
  • Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Seriously, they are better slightly chilled!
