Okay, confession time: I have a slight obsession with Twix bars. The perfect combination of chocolate, caramel, and cookie? Genius! So, naturally, I decided to incorporate that amazingness into brownies. These Twix Brownies are intensely chocolatey, with delicious caramel surprises hidden throughout. They are fudgy, rich, and utterly irresistible; everyone will love them! And, let's be honest, who doesn't love a good brownie?
This recipe is super easy to follow, even for beginner bakers. Plus, it's wonderfully customizable; feel free to get creative with your add-ins. But before you dive in, I have a story about brownies that almost went horribly wrong. It involved a very stressed-out me, a runaway oven, and a very smoky kitchen... let's just say these brownies are much smoother sailing!

📖 Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper for easier removal later. This is a tip I wish I'd known sooner!
Melt the butter and chocolate: In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter. Add 12 ounces of your favorite milk chocolate, chopped into pieces, and stir until completely smooth and melted. Make sure you don't burn the chocolate; I learned that the hard way!
Whisk together the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Be sure to really get that cocoa powder mixed in; otherwise, you might have some lumps!
Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the melted butter and chocolate mixture, mixing with a rubber spatula until just combined. Don't overmix; a few lumps are okay! Overmixing will make your brownies tough.
Stir in the Twix: Chop up 2 Twix bars (or 4 if you are using the mini-size and are feeling extra decadent!) into bite-sized pieces and gently fold them into the batter. I like to leave some larger chunks for an added surprise.
Pour into baking pan: Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs. I always check it at 25 minutes first, just in case!
Cool: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Trust me, this is crucial for preventing messy slices.
Enjoy!: Once cooled, cut into squares and serve. They are even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream... or two!
📝 Notes
For extra caramel flavor, drizzle some caramel sauce over the brownies after they cool.
If using mini Twix, use four bars for the same effect.
Make sure your baking powder and soda aren't expired!
