These Lollipop Lane Fruit Kebabs are THE ultimate snack – ideal for summer barbecues, picnics, or even just a quick afternoon snack. They're CRAZILY simple to make, with barely any prep time, and are RIDICULOUSLY versatile to suit whatever flavors you're craving. I made up the recipe when my niece was having a birthday party, and I needed something light and fun that the kids would enjoy. It was a MASSIVE hit!

The best part of this recipe is how versatile it is. You don't have to stick with the fruits I've named here. Just use whatever fresh, in-season fruits you have available. Try out some different combinations and flavors and find your own favorites. I'll have to try the kiwi and mango as my next combination; it will be simply delicious!

📖 Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare your fruit: Give all your fruit a good rinse. If using strawberries, hull them by removing their green tops. Cut all the fruit into bite-sized pieces, roughly the same size for even cooking. Think about 1-inch cubes or slices for most, and maybe slightly smaller for the berries.
  2. Assemble the kebabs: Carefully thread the fruit onto your skewers. I like to vary the colors and types of fruit on each skewer for a visually appealing presentation. You can make this step a fun activity for kids too!
  3. Optional: Add a citrusy glaze (optional): If you're feeling fancy, you can prepare a simple glaze to add extra zing. In a small saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons of orange juice, 1 tablespoon of honey, and a pinch of cinnamon. Simmer over low heat until slightly thickened. Set aside to cool.
  4. Grill or broil: Preheat your grill or broiler to medium heat. Grill the kebabs for 2-3 minutes per side, or until slightly softened and slightly caramelized. If using the glaze, brush it over the kebabs during the last minute of grilling for extra flavor.
  5. Serve immediately: Remove the kebabs from the grill or broiler. Let them cool for a minute or two before serving. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture, maybe with some whipped cream or yogurt on the side. Enjoy! (Note: always supervise children around the grill/broiler).

📝 Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the quantity of each fruit based on preference.
  • For a more intense flavor, marinate fruit in some lime or lemon juice for 15 minutes before assembling kebabs.
  • If making for kids, ensure you are present while they are consuming the kebabs to avoid choking on larger pieces of fruit..
