📖 Instructions

  1. First things first, make sure you have about 3 lbs of pork shoulder. I prefer bone-in, because it adds such amazing flavor. But, use what you've got, pal!
  2. Pat that pork shoulder dry with paper towels. This helps it get nice and brown when searing. Trust me on this one; it makes a difference!
  3. Next up, season that pork like a boss! Get yourself some salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and a little cayenne if you like things with a kick. Go wild, have some fun! Rub it all over that beautiful pork.
  4. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Sear that pork shoulder on all sides until it's golden brown and delicious looking. I'm talking a nice crust here!
  5. Now, pour in one cup of chicken broth and one cup of apple cider vinegar (again, the vinegar adds something special!). Toss in a chopped onion, two cloves of minced garlic, and a bay leaf.
  6. Bring everything to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let that pork braise away for around 2-3 hours. Or, you can transfer it to a slow cooker at this point (low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours).
  7. Once the pork is fork-tender (meaning you can easily shred it with a fork) and reaches an internal temperature of 190-195°F (88-91°C), pull it out carefully.
  8. Let it rest for about 15 minutes before shredding it using two forks. This is where the magic happens! You'll get those beautiful tender, juicy strands of pork. So satisfying!
  9. Once it's shredded, you can mix in a little extra of the braising liquid to keep it nice and moist. I always end up adding a bit more.
  10. Now, to make your amazing burgers, pile some pulled pork onto a burger bun. Get creative with toppings! Coleslaw, pickles, your favorite sauce… this is your moment to shine!
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy the best pulled pork burger you've ever tasted.Seriously, you're going to LOVE this!

📝 Notes

  • Adjust seasonings to your preference. Some folks like things spicier, y'know?
  • Feel free to experiment with different burger toppings. Get creative!
  • Leftovers are great! It's like a burger second chance!
