This Green Powerhouse Smoothie is my go-to recipe for a quick, healthy, and seriously delicious breakfast or snack. I developed this after a crazy busy week where even I couldn't find the time to make a nice healthy breakfast and wanted to avoid the sugary morning coffee. One of my friends actually told me about their fun hiking experience in the mountains and how they didn't get as much time to prepare for it, so I decided to make this recipe even more simpler for anyone who is on the go!

Seriously, this smoothie is packed with nutrients! Spinach provides iron and vitamins, kiwi is a great source of vitamin C, and ginger adds a delightful zing that helps with digestion. Trust me, it tastes way better than it sounds! What I really like is that it doesn't have that weird taste that some green smoothies have. I really hate that. I add a little apple to give it a little more sweetness.

📖 Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients! Make sure everything is fresh and ready to go. This is not the time for wilted spinach.
  2. Wash and prep the ingredients. Rinse the spinach thoroughly and give the kiwi a quick wash. Peel the kiwi and roughly chop it up. Don't forget to peel and roughly chop the ginger. (Ginger's skin has a lot of good stuff, so peel lightly!).
  3. Add everything to the blender: Toss all the spinach, kiwi, ginger, apple, and yogurt into your blender. Give it a quick once over, like your checking for suspicious items in your grocery bag (Just kidding!).
  4. Add your liquid: Pour in the water, or coconut water if you're feeling fancy, into the blender. Start with the minimum amount and add more until you get the perfect smoothie consistency. I prefer slightly thicker smoothies but hey, it's your body and your preferences!
  5. Blend it up! Now, get that blender started! Give it a good spin until you reach a nice, smooth and creamy consistency. If it's too thick, add a splash more water and blend again. To thick is way better than to thin so don't be too quick to add too much water.
  6. Taste and adjust. After blending, take a sip of your green goodness. If it needs more sweetness, add a little honey or maple syrup. If you find it a little tart, a dash of lemon juice might do the trick. Remember, it's your smoothie - customize it!
  7. Pour and enjoy! Carefully pour your glorious green smoothie into your favorite glass. I like to add a few extra slices of kiwi and a sprinkle of mint on top. Makes it look fancy and very nice! Grab a straw and savor every sip. (You earned it!)

📝 Notes

  • Adjust the amount of liquid to achieve your preferred consistency.
  • Feel free to add other fruits or vegetables like mango, berries, or cucumber.
  • If you don't like ginger, feel free to omit it or use a smaller amount.
  • For a sweeter smoothie, add honey or maple syrup to taste.
