This recipe is my personal take on a classic summer smoothie. I developed this recipe on a particularly hot summer day when I craved something refreshing and beautiful. The lovely pinkish-hue and the subtle floral notes from the rose water make it visually appealing and incredibly delicious. It’s perfect for a quick breakfast, a healthy snack, or an afternoon treat. You know, those days where you need a little pick-me-up!

One of my friends, Sarah, is a total smoothie fanatic. She told me about her exciting trip to a flower farm where she learned about rosewater. That's where the idea of combining it with the tartness of raspberries struck me! Believe it or not, it's surprisingly easy to make, even for those who are not very good in the kitchen – it’s one of my favourite things to make for the kids, as they can help with it!

📖 Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients and equipment. Make sure your raspberries are either fresh and very cold or frozen. Frozen is best!
  2. If using fresh raspberries, add 1/2 cup ice cubes to the blender. If using frozen raspberries, you can skip this step.
  3. Add the frozen raspberries (or fresh raspberries and ice), rose water, milk (or yogurt, if you prefer a creamier texture), honey or maple syrup (to your taste), and a pinch of salt to the blender.
  4. Secure the lid and blend until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender.
  5. Taste the smoothie and adjust the sweetness as needed by adding more honey or maple syrup. You can always add more, but you can't take it away!
  6. Strain the smoothie through a fine-mesh strainer (optional) if you want an extra-smooth texture. This step removes any small seeds or bits of raspberry that might bother you. I typically skip this!
  7. Pour the smoothie into a glass or jar. Garnish with fresh raspberries and a sprinkle of rose petals (optional) for an elegant presentation.
  8. Enjoy your refreshing and beautiful Raspberry Rose Smoothie immediately!

📝 Notes

  • Adjust the amount of honey or maple syrup according to your sweetness preference.
  • For a thicker smoothie, use frozen raspberries and less milk.
  • Feel free to experiment with other berries or liquid bases like almond milk or coconut water.
